Schedule
 

hey guys, we're going to have practice on monday and tuesday, as we really have ALOT to do eg. cleaning up ms wee's and zaki's steps + learning syf. however since its op week, not everyone will be down on both days, below is the schedule for monday and tuesday:

monday (12pm onwards): aisyah, grace, aditi, hafiz, trang, hee won, vanessa, amelia, chrystal, yi wen, nicholas, patrina

tuesday(12pm onwards): amanda, danielle, sharon, yanjing, yinzheng, audrey, vera, aaron, sing xuan, ashley

there are some whose names are not in the above, becaus ei dont want to touch the day before the op and the op day itself. for those people i'll be calling up you all to come in earlier on wednesday to practise.
oh and on wednesday please come in at 1230, though dance starts at 2 we'll need to teach you the syf steps so yup please come in earlier. thanks and al lthe best for op!

another important post!
 

ok guys, this is really important.

mrs chia will be coming in this wednesday for our dance practice. she's seen the attendance lists, and isn't too pleased that quite a number have been absent for our dance practices. knowing how important it is to uphold the standard of our sajc dance society, she's decided to remove those who do not come for dance practice this coming wednesday and the following weeks from the society. meaning, those without a doctor's mc or a valid reason for not attending practices wil lbe asked to leave. i hope you guys take this seriouslt, especially those who have missed practice without a valid reason. we don't want to see anyone leaving our dance society, so please, take this cca seriously.

as we all know, mr zaki is coming back next week to see how's our progress. soo, we'll need to have practice! but we only have one week. so, we're going to have to split you guys up, just fro this week. basically you all will be split into two groups: A and B. haha ok, so A will practice on tuesday and thursday, while B will practice on wednesday and friday. dont worry, practice won't be too long, provided we all work fast and dont waste time.
ok, groupings!

A: vera, adria, amanda, priscilla, yi wen, nicholas, patrina, annette, liying, larissa, aditi, hee won, hafiz, vanessa, trang. (amanda, danielle, aisyah, ian)

if you all cant make it on any day, and therefore need to change groups, please msg your exco relay by tomorrow evening latest so we can make the changes! oh and attendance will be taken at the practices, so come unless you really have a valid reason. thanks!

HELLO everyone!

im not sure how many of you will actually read this, but if you do, thanks for checking the dance blog regularly for updates!

exams start tomorrow, and theres one important announcement for everyone: STUDY HARD STUDY HARD STUDY HARD.
i know you all miss dance practice a lot, but for now focus on promos so you can get promoted!

noww, after promos, dance will resume :) it'll most likely be on the 7th of october. more details out later, so continue to visit the blog! :)

ACES Day + important information
 

hey all!

stuff to note for aces day tomorrow:
1. come in your black dance tee + pe shorts!
2. report at the middle section of the gallery in front of the flagpost by 7.00 am. DO NOT BE LATE.
3. aisyah will be marking attendance. those who will not be able to make it or take part will have to give a valid reason, accompanied by an authorised letter/mc etc. those who fail to turn up with a valid reason will be asked to choose another cca to join.

(though the meeting time is at 7.00 am, those who're unsure of the warm up/steps/preamble please come earlier to learn from someone who does. if you lose face in front of the students, you cant really blame anyone else)

if youre not sure of your position or anything, please sms me (97690423) by 8 pm latest.

ALL CHILDREN EXERCISE DAY
 

ok, important aces day updates dancers!

try to understand the lay out i'll attempt to 'draw' out below. basically its the plan for the full dress tomorrow at 5 pm. (a), (b), (c) are basically the 'main' gallery sections, (a) being nearest to the caf. dancers will be spread out in two areas:
1. along the sections, standing on the big steps.
2. along the track itself, right in front of the classes.

ACES DAY stuffs
 

here's the schedule for those teaching the Aces day routine this week:

monday:
8-9 am: adria, amanda, danielle, nicholas, yi wen, priscilla, patrina

tuesday:
8-9 am: ashley, aditi, hee won, hafiz, annette, audrey
9-10 am: larissa, yan jing, yinzheng, chloe, samantha, le yi
10-11 am: adria, amanda, danielle

wednesday:
8-9 am: alysia, aisyah, di long
9-10 am: grace chan (will try to get ppl to help here)

friday:
9-10 am: vanessa, trang, sing xuan, sophie, amelia, chrystal, grace lim, elaine, yee chin

*those bolded names will be the speakers

Important things to note:
1. when starting the whole teaching session, start off with a full demonstration of the entire routine, this gives the students a clearer idea of what to expect.
2. repeat/revise after every 4/8 counts, depending on the level of diffitculty of the step. we dont want them to forget the moves at the start after learning the last move!
3. dont do with music first. just get them familar with the counts and all. only do with music after they have learnt and more or less memorised the moves.
4. demonstrate clearly! make sure all your moves are the same, and everyone other than the speaker should spread out in front of the students, preferably facing same direction as them. no fancy fancy mirror image all.
5. BE PATIENT. the students might not have danced before, or might not be as musically or rythmnically inclined as you guys, or they might be shy about doing funny movements in front of their classmates. therefore, must be patient with them! remember to revise the steps with them after every few counts!
