haha i wonder how many people apart from dancers read this blog...but just so all of u know...RAPTURE 2006 tickets are selling now...and they sure are selling fast!haha:)

this yr,tickets are on a first-come-first-served basis..so race for the good seats at Esplanade!
pls hurry and approach any SAJC dancer around u or Mrs Chia to order tickets if u haven't already!

Just in case u guys missed it, Rapture practices with student choreographers will start from next week onwards,24th april. Here are some things to remember for the months to come before Rapture:
1) If you are not in that particular item, pls clear out from the dance studio to prevent disrupting the choreographer's rehearsal.
2) Pls report punctually for your choreographer's rehearsal. The choreographer reserves the right to fine any latecomers.
3) Pls inform your choreographer in advance if u are unable to make it for a rehearsal due to some valid cause.
4) Check the calendar regularly in case there are last minute changes to your choreographer's timeslot.

Hello and welcome to SA DANCE! :D
(dont worry your seniors dont bite - ok, well most of them anyway)
sorry we havent had a proper orientation for everyone yet but
we'll have a mini one some time soon alright!
time does not call for large scale one with Rapture and other performances ard the corner. :(


Ok, anyway for clarifications, Rapture is SA's aunnual dance concert and this year it will be held at ESPLANADE (you lucky ducks!). Zaki will be choreographing about 4 items and there will be an additional 5 items put up by student choreographers, meaning us, your seniors. :D

Now this is extremely important, each dancer is allowed to join a MAX. of 3 student choreographed items only. That said, they are probably going to approach you all and ask if you would like to join their dance. The choice is up to you, whether you want to accept their invitation or not and base your decision and what you feel would do you good. I.E. you're familiar with that genre of dance or you want to try something new etc.

A (veryveryveryvery) brief rundown on the items that the student choreographers will be putting up:

Amelia: Modern contempt
Celestine: Banghra inspired Hiphop
Corinne: Chinoiserie mix of everything
Jilyn: Classical and contemporary ballet
Musa: Contemporary Malay

This will be greatly elaborated on soon once we meet you all again. :D

PS: to alumni choreographers, Zaki has decided to limit each of your items to a max. of 5 mins plus and minus in best interests so try NOT to have allll your items at 6 mins.


RULES are pasted on the notice board inside the studio,
pls commit them to memory or prepare your $1. (we accept all notes and coins)
also bring your $5 dance fund to YINGLI pls!

To alumni choreographers,

1) pls pass your music to Zaki for vetting before you start on your item. He will come down to SAJC this Sat, 15/4 at 12pm.

2) All Alumni choreographers' timeslots are strictly kept to 7pm-9pm(all sch gates are locked at 930pm)on any day. (btw,it may be gd to place them on Tues & Thurs,since we do not have practices on those days:))

2) As the dance studio key costs $35 to duplicate, we are currently surviving on passing 1 key around among the SA dancers & the alumni choreographers. Thus, the key has to be collected only on the day of your scheduled rehearsal, but since the alumni slots are from 7pm-9pm, and neither Mrs Chia, Corinne nor I will be around by then, u will have to arrange a set system of us either passing the key to Doreen or Jamie during sch hours.

3) After which, the key has to be returned to us the next day during sch hours so that we can conduct our rehearsals.

4) Lastly, when everything falls into place in May and all items are set, timeslots for rehearsals will be tight.Hence, priority is given to current SAJC dance choreographers for timeslots.

Any inconvenience is sincerely regretted.

ok hey guys, here we go again...to all J2s,i need your BT1 results again*groans at own ugly grades* so pls sms me your results ASAP, by wed. to make things easier, here's the format: (subj)(fill in grade),

MT (grade)

So after the long break from dance, pls don't forget that ALL schedules are posted up on the calendar(the link is on the side bar). Pls check it religiously before every dance practice day in case of any changes. Reasons for latecoming or absenteeism due to not checking the calendar will not be entertained! we have to gear up for Rapture, guys!:)

IMPT NOTE: All updates on the blog and calendar about practice times must be made BEFORE 8pm in future. This is so that we can coordinate the accuracy of info. With this new system, everyone should check the blog AFTER 8pm before a CCA day(i.e. mon,wed,fri,sat) . Now, that should solve the discrepancies about who updated after i checked the blog yada yada yada...yay!

oh, and to the Rapture choreographers, pls remember to prepare your music for vetting by next Sat,15/4!

Hey guys! Danceworks is finally over!
We can now resume a normal life. :D

Thank you all, for your effort and dedication this past 1 week,
for pouring in your time,gritting your teeth and
sustaining all the bruises and blisters.

We didnt get a placing, but know that what we accomplished in
a mere one week, is something to be very proud off because we
put up a great show in the end and that's all that matters.

To be able to start from scratch, a whole new item in one week
and enter a competition is in itself a great feat and it just shows
what amazing dancers you guys are and what SA dance is all about.
