DANCEWORKS! (main + side event) + DUTY ROSTER

HELLO! how was CNY? how much have you guys collected? hahaha.

anyways, Reza wants me to inform you guys of the following:

Danceworks practice
tomorrow, 3.30pm-7pm

and i wonder why 3.30 not 3.
ANYWAYS, side event people attention!
from now onwards, we're part of the main danceworks team
therefore please take note of their practice sessions
we'll start practising from tomorrow onwards
and that would include doing up the sandwich board as well.

moving on to something else;
DUTY ROSTER
some of you are still unclear about this
and that's basically because you have not taken notice
of the 2 pieces of paper attached to the board!
kindly spare some time to take a look at them.

TAKE NOTE:
* the schedule has been done up such that one group will be in charge of duty for one whole week

* duty started 2 weeks ago but since nobody did anything, the cycle will renew as of tomorrow. in other words, Group 1 consisting of Corinne, Char Chen, Celena, Weiling, Kanghao and Lynette will be on duty from tomorrow onwards till the end of the week and the second group will take over next week.

got that? okay! wee! danceworks in about 2 weeks time!
meanwhile, don't forget Block Test 1
and the gathering this coming Sunday at Jacq's house.

CNY Celebrations

Hey all :]

long time no see/talk, and i'm sure all e present SA Dancers miss e oldie j3s and beyond! hohoho. SO.. (drum roll x 10) there'll be an SA Dance CNY Gathering for all dancers, both present and alumni members! details are as follows-

5th Feb, Sunday. Jacq's house- 35 Jln Adat (Adam Road area). but to make things easier, she's mtg us at 3pm at Serene Center to walk us in. it's a potluck too, so bring some snacks if possible! :]

(and no, yr eyes are not fooling you. i did put '3pm' in font size 'huge', cuz Dancers are known for having a warped sense of time.)

do try to come yep! it's a good chance for e oldies to get to know e new j1s, vice versa. o, and also to have e different batches together. :]

a more efficient way of checking the schedule in future + BIGGER TEMPLATE!

ok, good news & bad news at the same time?good news is, we have alot of performances and therefore alot of practices coming up. ditto for the bad news, especially to the j2s:)

anyway, to make things easier for everyone, here is an online calendar for all dancers to check the schedule for the coming days,weeks & months.

everything u need to know abt practice times, upcoming performances & rehearsals, important things to do.....it's all in there!

STEP 1:

STEP 2:

under username, type in "infinity"
under password, type in the same as u would for this blog (ahem,secret among the dancers of course. any dancer who has forgotten,u can ask me!j1s, it will be announced after 2nd intake posting~)

STEP 3:

now, click on "month" at the top-right corner of the pg(it's an orange button) & TADA!
for the to-do list, click on the date that u want when u r still at the "month" page.

Lastly, this calendar will be updated VERY regularly so do refer to this before every dance practice!
Btw, rmm that there is a full-dress rehearsal on SAT, right down to the tying of ur hair, so pls be prepared as fines apply for every missing item.

DANCEWORKS

firstly, i'm sorry yet again for not attending saturday's practice because of another valid reason. i sort of fell during dance and hurt my spine. i hope that's valid enough...

we shall have practice 20minutes right after corinne's slot on monday for 2 hours tentatively. but i intend to either finish at least half of the blocking for the finale on monday. so be prepared to stay late for the day.

also, i just have a few new steps to teach and modification of steps to do with all of you so please come prepared on monday. as i've said, i need everyone to come up with at least one or two ideas for the blocking and the transitions for the finale and also the "rehab" part. its a group effort so everyone has to contribute. i wouldnt mind people coming up with a few nice steps too.

oh and have i mentioned that i might change the finale song?.... :D

hello. i don't know if you guys are aware of this but we have to scrap our initial idea for the side event and come up with a new one. we got to know that another school is doing the exact same thing :( so we have to meet up and brainstorm for a new idea all over again.

omg.
i'm in a chinese herbal face mask.
WTH.

anyway, i wanted to apologize to all the danceworks people for holding you guys up that day. I'm really really sorry okay. i'm such a beginner at blocking and stuff cos i only usually come up with steps. so i'll need you people's help to help and contribute as much as you guys can. as in. throw in your ideas for blockings or anything that you guys think will help the dance in any good way la. i'd really appreciate anything that you guys can offer! a helping hand, leg, wrist, anything would be good! :D

oh! and i just thought of some transitions/blockings. but its quite hard to me and thats partly because i dont know how to explain it to you all.

i'll update you guys more on our practices once i've confirmed the days and time with the higher authorities. and we'll probably be staying late for quite a bit because of the blocking stuff i have in mind. and those that you guys will contribute of course!

ATTN!

From now on, technique classes will be held separately to accomodate the recent spike in dancers - all 150+ of us.

For J1s, it'll be on FRIDAYS, which means that J2s you will be FFRREEEE!!!! EXCEPT those in Sanguine and Danceworks, but this too will eventually end.

J2s, our class will be on SATURDAYS at 10am.

And we now have 2 tentative venues. If it's not the dance studio, it's the cultural centre and vice-versa so do the math!

CCA SIGN UP ON WEDNESDAY and impt reminders for danceworks and sanguine

THINGS TO DO BY MONDAY:

*hang up banner - Wardrob pls take out our banner and hang it right smack in the middle of the 2nd level area wall where it overlooks the caf. Reminders to bring string or whatever and get something heavy yet light to tie at the end of the banner so it doesn't flap up - pls discuss among yourselves

*paste orange arrows - all those holding on to the arrows now pls use a black marker and wright "DANCE" across it in bold letters. It can just fill up the rectangular section. Pass them to me on Monday morning pls, at the dance table.

*paste all orange things - char pls remember to bring the lamintating stuff

*get 2 desks to put outside the dance studio for J1s to sign up- musa you're in charge of this, and either get 2 chairs as well or you can use the bench outside the studio.

*get 2 lists done up for J1s to write down particulars

LIST ONE: THOSE WHO WANT TO JOIN DANCE.
include as column headings: Name, Class, Hp number, dance experience (and anything else you can think of)

LIST TWO: THOSE THAT WISH TO JOIN A DANCE WORKSHOP
im not sure about the exact details but it's some enrichment programme for dancers/non-dancers who just wish to go and dabble in a bit of dance.
headings for this would probably just be name class and hp number.

*schedule for dancers to take turns mending the booth - Jilyn
Tentative for the DSA and appeal students to be in charge of this as the rest of the J2s will be having blocking session for CNY but there needs to be at least 1 exco member over-seeing them at all times.

When students sign up pls alert them that they may go to the Cultural Centre to look in on our practice session - mrs chia's orders.

Anything else i forgot to add pls tag the board!

CharC and weiling also owe $1 to the fund for late coming, unless you've already paid that is.

Choreogaphers pls prepare your work AT HOME pls.

Reminder 3: Side-event for Danceworks - Musa is in charge but so-and-so-and-something-something happened and ANYWAY, whatever it is, i want an outline for the skit/dance/whatyoumaycallit by the end of next week.

Reminder 4: Bring your shades of green on Monday. After which NO MORE changing of the costume (unless you want to add sequins and shiny objects for more subsidy benefits :] )

Reminder 5: All those in danceworks dance AND side event pls look for information and PICTURES on ketamine. pls do not cut and paste wholesale because nobody is interested in reading chunks of gibberish. If you have any of those anti-drug booklets and whatnots that they give out yearly even better!
PLS BRING by end of next wk. Everyone at least 1 (big and clear) picture.

make love with the studio

hello. how was the practice in the new studio just now? hahaha... we obviously hate/dislike/abore/loathe/deteste (put in as many words as you want) the new studio. only 20+ of us were present just now and practising together as a society turned out to be like a battle; kicked, stepped, smacked, pinched, slapped, punched, elbowed... the list goes on...

like how in the world are we going to fit the coming batch!?

but there's nothing we can do about it. not at the moment at least (i think). but we can still tryyyy to love the studio!
okay you don't have to go to the point of lusting for the studio
like what Charwong did to the door in the changing room...

but if there's anything else other than the size that you are not particularly happy about and demand something to be done about it, please do voice it out to the welfare comm!

on the list currently we have the issue of dirrtyyy feet so we need a doormat. and probably curtains to cover the windows in the changing room. pretty weird architecture if you ask me. ventilation in the changing room instead of the studio itself. like how dumb. we also still need the fans cos it can get pretty warm but we don't have the space for two of them. and don't you think it's weird to be placing the radio there?

everything about the new studio is just wrong lahh
however if you have any suggestion as to how we can get around them, TELL US! :D

but our president lamented that we shouldn't be wasting money on teeny weeny stuff so make sure your ideas and suggestions are CHEAP!
or better still F.O.C!
